About Ohio Shared Living
Many agencies support residential group homes to give individuals at home care. Sometimes these homes are overwhelming because there are a lot of people who come and go. Because Downsize Farm is built on cultivating relationships, we prefer to offer Ohio Shared Living as a service for individuals needing more of a family atmosphere. Clients looking for this service may be ready to venture out of their traditional family home and explore another step toward independence. Others may be in a situation where their current living environment is no longer working out. Whatever your need is, we strive to find the family environment just for you.
The McKee FamilyKaelin’s Thoughts:
I like living with Bobbi and Jake and Aubrielle. I want to stay with them forever. At my old house, I had some hard things. Bobbi and Jake helped me work through those things. I also like my dog, Jabez. He sleeps with me. I still get to talk a lot with my other family, but I like being with Bobbi. She takes me to my appointments, she takes me shopping, she teaches me to cook, and we went to Virginia Beach. I love my family. They are awesome. Bobbi’s Thoughts: Having Kaelin in our home has been an amazing adventure. When we first met Kaelin, she was quiet and was hesitant to try new things. Since she has become part of our family, it has been exciting to watch her blossom into a beautiful young lady. Kaelin has one of the greatest hearts, and she is always down for an adventure. Our family certainly would not be the same without her. |
Teresa and WoodyTeresa’s Thoughts:
Woody is a part of my family. We became family through the Ohio Shared Living program. I have enjoyed walking this path with him through different learning experiences. Woody has a great sense of humor and makes me laugh often. He has gained a place in my home and my heart. We work through struggles together. Watching him grow and learn how to take care of himself and get along in the world is a privilege. Woody’s Thoughts: I have lived with Teresa for over three years and I call her mom. I am very blessed to have her in my life. Mom and the people at Downsize Farm try to help me with problems and help me see different ways to solve them. We live in the country. In the summers, spring, and sometimes fall, we have been having bonfires, hanging out and listening to music. Now it's winter, so we play Yahtzee in the evenings a lot. I'm happy to have a home and a family to help me through hard times in life. |
